8/10/08: Gotta love a Carolina sunset...especially at the track. Anderson Motor Speedway was the site of last night's ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour race and the results were very good. Josh took over the reins of the Peltier Racing #5 and made an immediate impact right off the trailer on Friday by turning one of the quickest laps all day. Saturday was more of the same as Josh never fell out of the top 3 on the speed charts. Preston Peltier, Ken, Hank and Bradley had the car dialed in all afternoon and Josh did not even need to go out for the final practice session.
Josh qualified 3rd quick in a stout 25 car field, just missing fast time by .049! Not bad for never sitting in that car or ever seeing that track before. The draw had Josh starting second row inside.
The race did not begin the way we had anticipated as one overly aggressive and impatient driver decided he was going to win this 100 lap race in the first turn of the first lap. Three seconds into the event Josh was spun and had to rejoin in the back of the field. Josh began to work his way through the field and by the half way point was positioned just outside the top 10. Later he worked up to 7th spot, but used a fair amount of tire to get there and had to settle for 9th.
Josh has now had three top 10s in three different cars in three different series. All in all, a good weekends' work. Josh would love to thank Preston, Ken, Hank, and Bradley of Peltier Racing for giving him one quick rod. There is a possibility of Josh returning to the Carolinas yet this year for some more racing. We just can't get enough of those sunsets.
Next race is back up here on next Friday, 8/14/08 at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, MI with the ASA Late Model Series North Division and the familiar Lorz Motorsports Ford Fusion #54. Hope to see you there!

7/30/08: Mid-season report... With only nine stock car races in his career under his belt, Josh has clawed his way up to 14th place in the ultra competitive ASA Late Model North Division. He has finished all but one event since he has climbed inside the Lorz Motorsports Ford Fusion #54. He has a top five finish(4th) at Hickory Speedway with the ASA Late Model South Division and top ten(8th) at I-70 Speedway with the North Division. He is currently leading the General Motors Performance Parts Shootout standings after six events and has also climbed up to sixth place in the Rookie of the Year chase.
Josh will be running down in North Carolina this upcoming weekend with the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour with Peltier Racing. Preston Peltier, a friend from racing shifter karts with the CKT team, has expressed interested in helping Josh. You can obtain information on Preston and his team Peltier Racing Inc. If this proves to be beneficial, Josh might be spending more time down in NASCAR country. After this event it's back up north with the ASA Late Model North Division.

7/28/08: Madison Int'l. Speedway. Josh and the Lorz Motorsports Team started the weekend on a high note by qualifying 17th and avoiding the GMPP Shootout for the first time this season. However, early in the race handling and brake problems coupled with a misfire in the engine would not allow the #54 to move up. Josh was relegated to just trying to keep the car on the track and get more seat time. This was not the way any of us wanted the weekend to start. Josh managed to bring the car home in 19th position. The Lorz crew immediately went to work to get the car ready for Rockford on the following day. Crew cheif Don Udoni had everyone jumping and before long the team had the Ford Fusion loaded on the trailer and headed down to Rockford.
Rockford Speedway. Being a true rookie driver, one with no previous experience in a stock car, Rockford would prove to be a daunting task. After a blown tire in the second practice session almost sent Josh and his mount into the wall the Lorz crew had to scramble again to make changes to the car on a limited time frame. The result was a 19th qualifying position. With passing coming at a premium at the tight high bank 1/4 mile track, starting 19th would prove to be a difficult task. Josh was spun, mid race, by the #5 of Brent Moffitt with no damage to the car Josh continued to plug along. With less than 10 laps to go to the checker the #54 Ford Fusion cut down another tire. Quick work, once again, by the Lorz crew got Josh back out on the track, but four spots farther back due to the incident. Josh brought the car home in 18th place.
There are many that call this the toughest touring division in the US. We tend to agree. All 26 cars that qualified at Rockford were within a 1/2 second, and we have seen this at every track we race at. Track records are being shattered at almost every stop and not by just one car. Deep, competitive fields are testing Josh and the Lorz crew at every stop. Progress is being made, but opportunities are being missed. Josh is currently looking at other opportunites along with his ride at Lorz Motorsports to further his education. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements.

07/08/08: Josh survived the carnage that was the Light Up the Night 150 at the I-70 Speedway and came from the 28th starting spot up to 8th by the time the checker flag flew. Several questionable calls from the ASA Late Model officials kept Josh from advancing even further, but what is done is done and it is time to move forward. Josh had a poor qualifying run in the Lorz Motorsports Ford Fusion #54 and he and the team had to start back in the GMPP Shootout. All cars were allowed to advance to the show so a conservative Shootout seemed to be on hand. It was. Josh moved up a couple of spots after a last lap pass in turn three to finish third. Josh was able to take over the points lead for the GMPP Shootout for the season. His 8th place finish also moved him into the top 20 in points for the year. Between practice, the GMPP Shootout and the Light Up the Night 150 Josh turned close to 300 laps on the fabled 1/2 mile track.
Now the 1/2 mile Madison Int'l. Speedway is next for the Josh and Lorz Motorsports Team. The team heads north of the border on Friday, July 25 and then we come back south for the ASA Late Model North Divsion event at Rockford Speedway on Saturday, July 26th. Hope everyone can make it and cheer Josh on.

6/25/08: Josh spent last week in Florida at the Finish Line Racing School working on some of the finer points of driving a stock car. It was an intense two day program with the time spent between classroom and track time. Josh came out of the trip with some new information and guidance thanks to Mike Loescher and staff. Now it's time to get back to the track...I-70 Speedway in MO. is the next stop for the ASA Late Model North Division on July 5th. The wicked fast 1/2 mile should provide for some great racing. Due to the rainout in LaCrosse the Lorz Motorsports Team has had plenty enough time to get the Ford Fusion #54 ready to tackle the challenge at I-70. This track has also proven to be a good track in the past for the team. Hopefully, the Lorz crew and Josh can continue the good fortune here. Hope to see everyone there. Great racing and a spectacular fireworks show to end the evening. Should make for a great holiday weekend. Happy 4th to all of Josh's fans.

6/8/08: LaCrosse, WI- Mother Nature wins another one. Practice was run late but after that threatening weather moved in and sent the ASA Late Model North Division teams running for cover. This event will not be re-scheduled due to other committments at the track.
School Daze...while everyone is running away from school, Josh will heading back to school at the Mike Loescher Finish Line Racing School in Florida on June 17th and 18th. Josh is taking part in an intensive driver development program. Josh will also be evaluated by Mike Loescher himself. Mike has been instrumental in the development of several USAC and NASCAR drivers in recent years. Josh will also learn some finer points in the piloting of these larger racing machines.
The next event for the Lorz Motorsports Team will be in Odessa, MO at the I-70 Speedway on July 5th. The Lorz boyz have had good fortune here in the past and Josh looks forward to keeping that going. See you in Missouri.

6/05/08-Toledo, OH. The re-scheduled season opener started on the high note. After two hours of practice, Josh had posted the 5th quickest lap. Qualifying was a different story. Josh ran a very conservative two laps and it hurt him. 24th quick and on to the GMPP Shootout again. After getting tagged in the rear, avoiding a crash in front of him the car sustained some minor damage and Josh was credited with a 7th place finish. The ASA Late Model officials decided to allow all cars into the race. 33 cars lined up for the event and Josh was 31st at the start. He ran a very clean race, stayed out of trouble and ran up to 16th place before having to pit with a loose sway bar. He finished 21st in the Lorz Motorsports Ford Fusion#54. Josh got a lot of seat time and that will only help him as the season progresses. We are off to LaCrosse, WI for the the River Run 100 on June 7th. Hope to see you there.

5/27/08: Race #2 of the ASA Late Models North Division at Grundy County Speedway proved to be yet another disappointment. The Lorz Motorsports Team did a fantastic job completely rebuilding the Ford Fusion #54. After running the 12th quickest lap of the first practice session things seem to be looking up. Not quite. After falling to 17th in the 2nd practice, several changes were made to the car and Josh was able to barely get into the field, that is until his teammate from last year's Hickory, NC race, Michael Pickens came along and bumped Josh out of the field. Josh missed the race by less than .005. Less than .800 separted the entire 34 car field.
Josh started on the front row outside for the GMPP Shootout He fell back to 4th as he could not get down in line and after the 3rd place car dropped out, Josh was squarely on the bumper of the #15, who had possession of the last transfer spot. With three laps to go, Josh tried a little too hard forcing the #15 into a spin. The ASA Late Model officials deemed the move overly aggressive and Josh was sent to the back of the pack and the #15 got his spot back in second, in which he transferred to the George Appleton 125 later Sunday evening. Josh pulled the Lorz Motorsports Ford Fusion #54 into the pits ending the day with an eighth place finish.
The team is now making changes to the car to get ready for Toledo next Sunday, June 1st. Josh has been frustrated after the first two events, but it's time to move on and look forward. Crew chief Don Udoni and Josh seem to be making some strides in their communication and set ups and we are all looking towards Toledo to see this relationship bear better results.

5/19/08: The Lorz Motorsports team have done a great job the past few weeks rebuilding the Lorz Motorsports #54 Ford Fusion from the ground up following the mishap at ORP. All the guys have busted their tails getting Josh back on track for the Memorial Day weekend event at our home track, Grundy County Speedway. The race is on this upcoming Sunday, May 25th. It looked like Josh was going to have to get another mount but Mike Lorz and crew put the pedal to the medal to get the car race ready.
Josh has a lot of ground to make up in the ASA Late Models North Division after the opening round and what better to start than at home. It's been a long month off, but now everyone is turning their focus to Grundy County. After that the Lorz Motorsports Teams heads back to Toledo on June 1st and then on to LaCrosse for a Saturday night show on the 7th.
The next three weekends are going to be fast paced and filled with plenty of racing action, so Josh Lane fans get ready to sit down, buckle up, and push the loud pedal through the floorboard. Time to get busy.

4/26/08: O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis. The ASA Challenge Series was next on the schedule and with 200 laps ahead of them the Lorz Motorsports Team figured they were due some payback. It wasn't to be. Josh qualified 24th and started shotgun on the field. The late night start seemed to favor the Josh and the #54 as he began to climb up through the field. Twenty one laps in Josh found himself in 18th spot and the car was handling great. On a restart Josh was battling with 13 yr. old Logan Ruffin from Tn. when a car in front of Ruffin moved over on Ruffin causing him to move over on Josh. The ensuing mayhem saw the #54 make heavy contact with the inside front straightaway wall and then shoot across the track making another hard impact with the turn one wall. Josh was dazed, but very quick response from the ORP emergency crew got Josh out and to the infield care center where the track doctor made a full examination before releasing Josh to Lance Lane, his father. Josh suffered a mild concussion and is generally a little sore as of this update. Josh will be alright. The #54, on the other hand, was not so lucky. The car sustained heavy damage to the front end and will have to be completely stripped down so the chassis can be inspected by Lefthander Chassis. The body will also have to be replaced as will other assorted various parts. Lorz Motorsports Team owner, Mike Lorz, stated that it had been a long time since he had seen an impact like that.
This was not the way the team expected to start the year, especially after a successful test at ORP in early April. It will be a long season and there will be plenty of opportunity for Josh and the Lorz Motorsports Team to show what they can really do in 2008. Next race is Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL on May 25th. This long layoff will give the Lorz boys plenty of time to rebuild the #54 and make the car better than ever.
You can drop Josh a quick email on the Fan page just to let him know we are all happy that he is alright after the wreck. Stay tuned for further updates.

4/25/08: O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis. The Lorz Mororsports Ford Fusion #54 developed rear end problems at the end of practice and that put the team behind the eight ball for qualifying. Josh had to run the GMPP Shootout. The ASA Late Model North Division only takes the top two cars and Josh, fighting an ill handling car, finished third.

4/20/08: As the Lorz Motorsports Team and Josh Lane ready the Ford Fusion #54 for action this upcoming weekend at ORP, Josh Lane Racing announces a new associate sponsor, Complete Automated Solutions. CEO Matt Fitzsimmons is a big race fan and discussed this possibility with Josh's manager, Jeff Charnogorsky, earlier this year. Matt and CAS will not only help the team out through the sponsorship but he plans on attending a few of this year's races. Thanks Matt and CAS. Their website is www.CompleteAutomatedSolutions.com.

4/14/08: Mother Nature wins at Toledo. After a solid day of practice on Friday, Josh had 6th quick practice time in the last session, Saturday wasn't so kind. With radar showing no chance of getting the race in the ASA Late Model officials were forced to call the event. This race has been re-scheduled for June 1st, Sunday. This will be an afternoon show along with the USAPRO Series. Josh and the Lorz Motorsports Team were understandably dissapointed but now it's time to set our focus on ORP in Indianapolis for the ASA Late Model Series North and Challenge Series races on April 25th and 26th. After a successful test there in early April everyone has high hopes for starting the season on the right foot. Check www.asalatemodels.com for race info. Hope to see you at the track.

The 2008 season is right around the corner and Josh and the Lorz Motorsports Team is ready to go. The team will be practicing Saturday, April 5th at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indy. The #54 Lorz Ford Fusion has been completely overhauled from last season with a new motor, new shock package and new brakes on all four corners. The entire body has been replaced and this year's car will look completely different from last year's ride. Photos will be posted very soon.
The following weekend Josh and the team will be at Toledo Speedway in Toledo, OH for the opening round of the ASA Late Model North Division Race. Check here at www.asalatemodels.com for more race details and up to date practice and qualifying times. Josh is setting his sights on winning the prestigous Rookie of the Year Award for the North Division.
Lorz Motorsports has also added the ASA Challenge Series Race at Gateway International, just outside St. Louis, late in the season. The NASCAR Craftsmen Truck Series will be racing there along side the ASA. The 1.5 mile track will prove to be a good measuring stick for Josh as it will be the largest track he will run on all season.
Camfield Racing will provide a midget for Josh if time permits sometime this season. Josh has never run on dirt but Dave Camfield is confident Josh will be alright. A POWi event in downstate Illinois will more than likely be the venue for Josh's dirt debut. Scheduling this event will prove to be tricky as the summer has filled up quite a bit already. Watch this site for more details.
Contact Josh via the Fan Page and let him know you are rooting for him! See you at the races.
